MS hug, known medically as dysesthesia, is often a first symptom of multiple sclerosis or of an MS relapse. The squeezing sensation around the torso feels like a tightened blood pressure cuff. The pressure can be so intense that it makes it difficult to take a deep breath. Some people also feel it in their hands, legs, feet or around the head. Others describe it as a burning, stabbing or tingling pain, or even as something like an electric shock.About 1 out of every 4 people living with MS experience MS hug, and it can feel different for each person. It can range from annoying to painful and can last a few seconds or much longer.
